NordVPN Pricing in August 2026: Basic, Complete and Complete Max, Monthly and on Renewal

NordVPN costs $14.99 a month on Basic, $19.99 on Complete and $21.99 on Complete Max as of . Prepaid terms run cheaper while they last, then each tier renews as one yearly charge: $139.08, $219.48 or $301.08. The top tier renews above twelve monthly payments.

Two figures decide this purchase and only one is advertised. The intro rate covers a fixed term, 12 months or 27, and after it the account switches to a yearly charge fixed per tier. On Complete Max that charge is larger than a year of month-to-month billing. Commitment is not always the cheaper side here.

What follows prices the standing monthly rates, then each prepaid term and what it takes up front, then the yearly figure the term hands over to. VAT is excluded from every number the vendor prints and from every number here. Captured from the live term selector in .

This page prices consumer NordVPN. NordLayer, the business product from the same company, is sold separately with a five-licence minimum and none of its rates appear here.

NordVPN renewal price: Basic hands over to $139.08 once its term ends

Basic, Complete and Complete Max renewals, one yearly charge per tier.

The savings percentages on the vendor's own page are measured against the renewal column here, not against the monthly rate, and the arithmetic holds to the cent. Few vendors here measure a discount against the price you end up paying. The 12-month term finishes at the same yearly charge as the 27-month one.

The figure has held on every dated read for that tier, and the one-year term prices moved under it.

Based on

Ten devices, and the same ten everywhere

The compare table lists ten simultaneous devices as included on Basic, Complete and Complete Max. No tier lifts it and no add-on extends it, so the cap is a category fact rather than a plan fact here.

The extras are bundled, never sold alone

The antivirus, the password manager and the terabyte of storage arrive with Complete and cannot be bought beside Basic. Paying for one of them means paying for all of them.

Complete Max renews above its own month-to-month rate

The top tier renews at $301.08 a year. Twelve payments of $21.99 come to $263.88. Committing therefore costs $37.20 more across a year than never committing. Only this tier behaves that way: Basic renews at $139.08 against $179.88, Complete at $219.48 against $239.88.

Weight high
R-4

The three extra months are charged, not given

The 2-year card carries a '+ 3 EXTRA months' badge and bills $94.23 for the first 27 months of Basic. That is $3.49 multiplied by 27, to the cent. The months are added to the commitment rather than handed over, so what looks like a gift is a longer term.

Weight high
R-5

Both prepaid terms hand over to the same yearly charge

A 12-month term at $5.49 and a 27-month term at $3.49 end in the same place: $139.08 a year on Basic. Complete lands at $219.48 and Complete Max at $301.08. The longer term is cheaper only while it runs, and it changes nothing about the invoice that follows.

Weight high
R-6

The prepaid term is taken in a single payment

The page reads '$312.93 $94.23 for the first 27 months'. One charge covers all of them. Leave in month four and the remaining twenty-three are bought and gone, which is a longer exposure than most buyers picture when they choose the cheaper monthly figure.

Weight medium
R-7

VAT sits outside every figure the page prints

Three words follow every price on every term: VAT may apply. So the $94.23 term total and the $139.08 renewal are both pre-tax, and what gets added depends on the billing address rather than on the plan.

Weight medium
R-8

No business price exists on this page

The business link leads to NordLayer, a different product from the same company, where a minimum of five licences applies. NordVPN itself publishes no team tier. A company buying here buys consumer subscriptions and gets consumer terms with them.

Weight medium
R-9

Where NordProtect actually applies is not stated

Identity theft cover and cyber insurance are most of the case for the top tier and most of the reason its renewal reaches $301.08. The pricing page does not restate which countries the cover reaches. A buyer outside them pays the same figure for a thinner tier.

What the NordVPN price page leaves out

Three things we looked for on the vendor's own page and did not find. Each one is something a buyer cannot verify before the card is charged.

  • 01A monthly figure for any renewal. The intro is quoted per month and the renewal per year, and NordVPN never converts one into the other.
  • 02The countries NordProtect covers. Identity theft cover and cyber insurance carry the top tier and the page does not say where they apply.
  • 03Any team or business rate. The link exists, the minimum of five licences is stated, and the price is somewhere else entirely.

Arriving at NordVPN from ExpressVPN, Surfshark or ProtonVPN: $14.99

ExpressVPN renewals, Surfshark device counts, ProtonVPN and the bundle.

Three routes in, each priced on the no-commitment rate at both ends. The apps take an evening. What costs money is the term you are still holding somewhere else.

Coming from

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN charges $14.99 a month against $15 on NordVPN Basic.

Identical entry rates, so nothing changes on the sticker. Look at the renewals instead: $139.08 a year here against $99.95 on the tier you are leaving.

  1. Work out what is left of the term you already paid: a 28-month prepayment is not refundable by switching.
  2. Sign in on the new apps first and leave the old ones installed until every device is proven.
  3. Use the thirty-day guarantee as the test window, and set a reminder before the renewal date rather than after it.
Coming from

Surfshark

Surfshark runs $15.45 a month against $15 on NordVPN.

You are moving from an uncounted device list to a ceiling of ten. Count what is actually connected before the switch, not what is owned.

  1. List the devices that stay connected all day. Ten is the limit on every tier here.
  2. Decide whether the antivirus and the vault are worth the second tier, or duplicates of what you already run.
  3. Keep both subscriptions alive for a week if anything depends on a specific exit country.
Coming from

ProtonVPN

ProtonVPN costs $9.99 a month against $20 here.

The step up is a bundle, not a better tunnel. If the antivirus and the storage duplicate software you already pay for, the move adds cost without adding cover.

  1. Price what you would cancel elsewhere before committing: the second tier only pays for itself by replacing something.
  2. Start on the monthly rate. A prepaid term leaves the account in one payment on day one.
  3. Check the renewal figure for the tier you choose before the term ends, not when the email arrives.

NordVPN enters at $14.99 a month. That is above the $12.49 median this category sets, and level with ExpressVPN to the cent. One thing here beats the category norm. NordVPN states the basis of its own discount claims, savings measured against renewal prices, and the struck totals check out exactly. A vendor comparing its offer with the price you will actually pay is doing something most of its rivals avoid.

Then there is Complete Max. It renews at $301.08 a year while twelve separate payments of $21.99 total $263.88, so the customer who commits pays $37.20 more than the one who never did. Basic and Complete renew below a year of monthly billing, which is what a commitment is supposed to do. Our reading stops at Complete for that reason, and the case for the tier above it is a dedicated IP and NordProtect bought with both eyes open.

D1The tier, which is the only real axis. all three cover ten devices, so the money buys software beside the tunnel rather than more connections.
D2The renewal, charged yearly and fixed per tier at $139.08, $219.48 or $301.08 whichever prepaid term was bought.
D3The term, which decides how long the intro runs and what leaves the account today. $65.88 for 12 months of Basic, $94.23 for 27.

NordVPN pricing FAQ: renewals, the 27-month term and where VAT lands

Monthly billing, device counts, the discontinued Plus tier, business plans.
11.1How much is NordVPN a month?
$14.99 on Basic, $19.99 on Complete and $21.99 on Complete Max with no commitment attached. NordVPN labels that state Save 0%, which is blunter than most vendors manage. Prepaid terms cut the monthly figure hard while they run, and each one hands over to a yearly charge afterwards: $139.08, $219.48 or $301.08.
11.2What does NordVPN cost when it renews?
$139.08 a year for Basic, $219.48 for Complete and $301.08 for Complete Max. Those figures do not depend on the term you bought. A 12-month plan and a 27-month plan renew at the identical number, printed on the page as 'Renews at $139.08/year' under the price you were shown. At 1 device the step from Basic to Complete Max costs $84 a year.
11.3Is the NordVPN 2-year plan really 27 months?
Yes, and the three extra months are billed with the rest. Basic runs $3.49 a month and the page totals $94.23 for the first 27 months, which is $3.49 multiplied by 27 exactly. The 1-year plan carries no bonus at all: twelve months at $5.49, billed $65.88.
11.4Are NordVPN's discount percentages measured honestly?
More honestly than the category standard. The pricing page states its basis in four words: savings, intro versus renewal prices. So Save 69% compares $3.49 with the $139.08 renewal, and the struck $312.93 is 27 months priced at that renewal rate. Vendors that measure against a month-to-month price instead get bigger percentages out of a smaller discount.
11.5Why does NordVPN Complete Max cost more when I commit?
Because its renewal is annual and steep. $301.08 a year sits against twelve month-to-month payments of $21.99, which total $263.88, so the commitment costs $37.20 more per year once the intro term closes. Basic and Complete do not invert like this: $139.08 against $179.88, and $219.48 against $239.88.
11.6How many devices can NordVPN cover at once?
Ten, on every tier. The compare table lists ten devices secured at once as included on Basic, Complete and Complete Max, so nothing further up the tiers buys another connection. What the extra money buys is software: antivirus, a password manager, storage and wider monitoring.
11.7What is the difference between NordVPN Basic and Complete?
Everything except the tunnel itself. Basic is the VPN plus scam and phishing protection and Dark Web Monitor for up to five emails. Complete adds next-generation antivirus, an ad and tracker blocker, a password manager, 1 TB of encrypted storage and a data breach scanner. Dark Web Monitor Pro widens the watch to eight emails plus a phone number, a card and a national ID. The step is $60 across a year of monthly billing.
11.8Is NordVPN Complete Max worth $21.99 a month?
Only for the dedicated IP and NordProtect, which carries identity theft cover and cyber insurance. Month to month the step over Complete is $24 a year and reads cheap. The renewal does not read cheap: $301.08 against $219.48. The page also declines to say which countries NordProtect reaches, so part of what you are paying for is unspecified.
11.9Does NordVPN have a free plan or a free trial?
No to both. Every tier and every term carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, with no new-users qualifier printed next to it. That is a refund route rather than a trial, so the first charge is real and a prepaid term leaves the account in full on day one.
11.10Is NordVPN expensive?
Entry sits above the middle of this category. The rate is $14.99 a month, and the $12.49 median is drawn from the other four VPNs we track. On renewal the answer splits by tier. Basic at $139.08 a year is fair for ten devices and a monitoring service. Complete Max at $301.08 is the one figure on this page nobody should sign without reading it twice.
11.11Can I pay NordVPN monthly instead of committing?
Yes, at $14.99, $19.99 or $21.99 with VAT on top, and NordVPN marks that state Save 0%. Twelve such payments come to $179.88, $239.88 and $263.88. So monthly billing costs more than the renewal on the two lower tiers, and less than it on Complete Max.
11.12Does NordVPN add VAT to the price?
It may, and nothing quoted includes it. Three words sit under every figure on every term: VAT may apply. The $94.23 charged for 27 months of Basic and the $139.08 renewal are both pre-tax figures. What is actually charged depends on the billing country, not on the tier.
11.13Is there a NordVPN plan for businesses?
Not on this page. The business link leads to NordLayer, a separate product from the same company with a minimum of five licences. The consumer plans carry no team tier at all, so a company buying here is buying individual subscriptions at $14.99 to $21.99 a month and managing them by hand.
