Netlify pricing: the quick answer

Quick answerHigh· Verified July 8, 2026

Netlify uses a credit wallet, not per-seat billing. As of July 2026 the Free plan gives you 300 credits a month, Personal is $9 for 1,000 credits, and Pro is $20 a month for 3,000 credits with unlimited members. Enterprise is custom, starting around $500 a month. Credits pay for builds and traffic, and a production deploy costs 15 credits, so Free covers about 20 deploys before you top up. Pass the allowance and Netlify blocks the overage or makes you buy more. Watch the wallet, not the seats.

Netlify Hidden Costs & Pitfalls

What sits on top of the plan fee

The plan fee buys a monthly credit allowance. What actually drives cost is how fast you burn credits and what happens when you run out.

Credits per deploy
A production deploy costs 15 credits. On the Free plan's 300 monthly credits that is about 20 deploys before the wallet is empty; Personal's 1,000 credits buys roughly 66 and Pro's 3,000 around 200. A team shipping several times a day will chew through Free fast, which is usually what forces the first upgrade.
15 credits/deploy
Overage on the credit wallet
Once you spend the monthly allowance, Netlify either blocks further usage or nudges you into buying an extra usage package on top of the plan fee. You can set a hard spending limit on metered features, so the practical move is to cap it deliberately rather than discover the overage on the invoice.
rate not published
AI inference billed separately
AI model usage is metered in dollars rather than folded into the plan credits, and the rate varies by model and volume as shown in Netlify's calculator. If you lean on the AI features, that is a real line item beyond your credit spend, so model it before you assume the plan fee is the whole cost.

Despite a generous Free plan, Netlify's $9/mo Personal tier is a significant jump from competitors, yet still offers strong value against the $20/mo Pro plan. However, scaling up to the Pro plan at $20/mo pushes you past the median, though it unlocks unlimited team members and shared environment variables. While the initial tiers offer excellent value for static hosting and quick deployments, the value proposition degrades rapidly if your projects scale in traffic or resource consumption.

Cost drivers

  • 1Bandwidth overage charges that can scale exponentially without hard caps
  • 2Credit reductions, with build credit allocations recently cut from 5,000 to 3,000 credits
  • 3Seat-based pricing scaling triggers when moving from Personal to Pro tiers

Watch-outs

The platform has faced severe backlash over uncapped bandwidth overage fees, leading to viral horror stories of users receiving massive bills. Sudden pricing model shifts and credit reductions have also damaged developer trust.

Strengths

The Personal plan at $9/mo offers atomic deploys with instant rollbacks ensure site stability.

  • Atomic deploys with instant rollbacks ensure site stability.
  • Integrated Edge Functions for fast, personalized dynamic content.
  • Automated build previews for every pull request simplifies review.

Editor’s take

Individual developers and hobbyists should stick to the Free or $9/mo Personal plan, while small teams will find the $20/mo Pro plan highly functional if they monitor their bandwidth closely. If you want to avoid the risk of sudden overage bills and prefer predictable infrastructure pricing, host your applications on DigitalOcean instead.
