Hugging Face pricing: the quick answer

Quick answerHigh· Verified July 16, 2026

Hugging Face starts free and charges $9 to $50 a month for its paid plans as of July 16, 2026. The free plan covers 2M-plus public models and datasets, 100GB of private storage, and a small ZeroGPU quota. PRO is $9/mo for eight times the ZeroGPU quota, 1TB of storage, and Dev Mode, Team is $20 per user a month with SSO, audit logs, and pooled inference credits, and the Enterprise tier is $50 per user a month. The subscription is only half the story: Spaces compute is billed by the hour on top, from $0.40/hr for a T4 up to $20/hr for an 8x A100 rig.

Hugging Face Hidden Costs & Pitfalls

What sits on top of the plan fee

The monthly plan buys quota and features, not compute. Real bills on Hugging Face come from GPU-hours and storage, both metered separately from the $9 or $20 you pay for the seat.

Spaces GPU compute is billed by the hour
CPU Basic and ZeroGPU are free, but real GPUs meter continuously while a Space runs. A T4 small is $0.40/hr and an A100 large is $2.50/hr, so a demo left running on an A100 for a week costs about $420 whether or not anyone visits it. The multi-GPU rigs climb fast, with an 8x A100 at $20/hr. Set Spaces to sleep, because idle GPU time bills the same as active inference.
$0.40 to $20 per hour
Storage past your quota is a per-TB monthly charge
The base rate is $12 per TB a month for public repos and $18 per TB for private, charged monthly for as long as the data sits there. A team hosting 5TB of private model checkpoints pays $90 a month in storage alone, separate from any seats. Volume tiers cut the rate at 50TB and above, but for most teams storage is a steady line that grows quietly as checkpoints accumulate.
$12/TB public, $18/TB private
Inference Providers and Endpoints bill outside the plan
PRO includes only $2 a month in Inference Provider credits, and production Inference Endpoints have their own pay-as-you-go compute pricing not covered by the subscription at all. Once you move past experimentation into hosted production inference, that compute is the dominant cost, and the $9 or $20 plan fee becomes a rounding error against it. Scope the endpoint pricing separately before you plan a production deployment.

Positioning

$9/moentry price
13% above the category median
low $5.99median $7.99 · n=9high $30

Hugging Face is genuinely free for browsing and light use, and PRO at $9/mo is a small step up that buys 8x the ZeroGPU quota, 1TB of storage, and SSH-level Dev Mode. Team is $20 per user a month and adds SSO, audit logs, and resource groups. For individuals and small teams building open-source AI, that is strong value. The costs that matter are not the seat prices; they are the compute and storage metered on top.

Cost drivers

  • 1Spaces GPU time is billed by the hour, from $0.40/hr for a T4 up to $20/hr for an 8x A100, and it runs whether the Space is busy or idle. Storage past quota is $12 per TB a month for public repos and $18 for private. PRO includes only $2 a month in inference credits, and production Inference Endpoints carry their own pay-as-you-go compute pricing off this page. The plan fee is the floor, not the bill.

Watch-outs

Users have been caught out by sudden changes to API and inference limits that disrupted live workflows.

Strengths

Why people stay:

  • A hub of 2M-plus open-source models and datasets in one place
  • The Transformers library makes state-of-the-art models easy to run
  • Spaces let you build and share live ML demos without your own hosting

Editor’s take

Solo developers do fine on PRO at $9/mo for experimentation, and growing teams that need security controls move to Team at $20/user/mo. Just budget the GPU-hours and storage separately, because they will outrun the seat fee. If you only want polished proprietary models rather than raw open-source hosting, ChatGPT is the simpler path.
